TOWN PLANNING & ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

Re-planning 200 flats

This 1960's estate was given improved security and private gardens for the ground floor maisonettes. (St Pauls Gardens for Bristol City Council)

Rebuilding 200 houses

In this 1930's estate we planned a ten year re-building programme in which the roads were modernised at the same time as the piecemeal re-builiding was carried out.

At the centre of long roads we introduced pedestrian and community  areas, forming safe cul-de-sacs.

(the Sutton Estate, Brislington,Bristol)

LOW ENERGY AND SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES

Our schemes have won several low energy awards, and our latest design award is for a sustainable timber framed housing scheme.

SOCIAL  AND COMMUNITY ARCHITECTURE

We designed with the first pioneering new build co-operatives, and have continued this approach with the first Estate Action scheme in Bristol at St Paul's.  Consulting the users of a scheme has been a theme in many other neighbourhood and community projects.

DREAM CONCEPT PROJECTS AND CREATIVE IDEAS

In the award winning Bloy Street urban renewal, we identified enough space to form a new pedestrian square. This was designed to slow down the traffic and sets out the parking under a canopy of dense Whitebeam trees.

LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION

Several new developments like this have been designed in the Bristol Conservation areas. This design for a corner is unique because it is two new houses, interlocked, within the outline of the old, each with their own front door.
