What People Wanted

• The scheme should save the occupants money by reducing their heating bills.
• Defensible spaces had to be clearer, for reducing the amount of crime and nuisance.
• A good environment with planting, texture and urban spaces
• To have a good relationship with the designers and to feel empowered in the process.

Urban Renewal the Barbican, Plymouth

80 flats were re-designed, and family houses were inserted into these listed buildings. We opened an office in one of 

the old flats and stayed there.

          *Nominated for Europa Nostra Award by Plymouth Council

         * Subject of a Bream Energy study, showing that consumption went down to one quarter of the previous amount.

 

Rebuilding 200 houses

Our master plan responded to the wishes of people who had lived on 

the Sutton Estate, Bristol,  for all their 

lives. A ten year re-building plan was devised which  put new homes piecemeal between the old, keeping 

to the character of the estate.

Re-planning a Radburn Estate

Two thousand households were consulted in our study of how to reduce fear and the opportunities for crime in the Llandedryn-Pentwyn neighbourhoods of Cardiff.
