The schemes we designed which won the energy awards have the following features:

  •  thermal storage using large water calorifiers.
  •  very high insulation in the walls, even in one of them  being three layers of masonry construction.
  • high thermal mass for elderly people so that the  homes stay warm in the day.
  • lighter buildings  for other users, which heat up quicker
  • energy management systems for commercial buildings which can knock the start time of the heating till later when it has been mild.

Why?

The Earth depends forever /  On its life support system  /     Providing water, food and air.

There is no second chance;  Damage to the life support  system   /       Risks everything, for ever.                                 from John McCulloch
